Oklahoma floods close roads and restrict travel
Oklahoma has been hit by heavy rains, and have caused the northeastern part of the state to flood, closing roads and restricting travel.
Highway 66 has been shut down near Claremore, and the roads and major highways around the towns of Pryor and Salina are also completely flooded. More than five inches of rain fell in this region this morning, closing Highway 69 as well.
OHP Capt. Jack McCoy says there are too many roads closed to list them all and the OHP is asking people to simply not travel in the area.
No injuries have been reported but McCoy says troopers are helping rescue some stranded motorists.
Emergency crews are asking people to stay inside and off the roads, and if the water gets any worse, homes and businesses could flood.
Some water rescues have been made as motorists became stranded.
The following counties are under a flash flood warning:
Mayes County, Delaware County, northern Cherokee County, northern Adair County, Ottawa County, and parts of Rogers County, Craig County and Nowata County.
