Extreme Heat Wave in Oklahoma: Streets Are Melting
August 1, 2012 saw temperatures of 115F (46C) in parts of Oklahoma, as the triple-digit heat wave continues. It's so hot, lamppost globes are melting. Water rationing is in effect in Oklahoma City, residents of even-and odd-numbered addresses must water their yards on alternating days.
The heat advisory continues into next week. Sunday, August 5 is expected to see a dip to a high of 98F, but then it's back into the 100's. Oklahoma hospitals are seeing a spike in heat-related admissions, and paramedics expect to be kept busy as long as the heat wave continues.
Don't become a statistic: stay cool during the heat wave.
