Each Earth Day, Lada Salon teams with Aveda and the Clean Water Fund to stage a fashion show to raise funds for clean water here and around the world. This year's show, Earth Fashion Water, was held in the Leid Center concert hall with excellent attendance. Lada Salon is owned by Mark Chapman who selflessly devotes tremendous time and effort to the cause of raising money for this tremendously important cause. His wonderful staff, especially the divine Emily Cope, contribute enormously to make the show a success.

In addition to the stores and models contributions, the passionate remarks of Andrea Kiepe Jacob of the Clean Water Fund were truly inspiring.

Anyone wishing to donate or get more information about this cause can visit www.cleanwaterfund.org

This Opening Cermonies were b Ron and Tony Brave with traditional Native American dancing by Isaiah Stewart and Dennis Rogers.
A DVD of the show and a slide show of all the models and participants will be ready by next weekend produced by my son and myself. With deep regret, my camcorder battery failed before several groups took the stage. A fruitless night on the charger has led to the recycle bin for this battery and I've learned that it will need to be replace by two(!) new batteries.

Lawrence, Kansas is a very environmentally active city due to a large, young liberal population that resides here to attend the University of Kansas. The owner of an extremely popular local salon, Mark Chapman realized that to raise money for worthy causes such as clean water, it needed to be tied to a popular event. For the last few years, he and his staff have done a wonderful job of organizing a fashion show on Earth Day with the support of Aveeda products to raise money for clean water projects here and around the world. It's been great to be able to donate my time to create a video/photographic DVD of the show to make the experience more meaningful for those who participate. None of the imagery, such as the wonderful images shown in the opening ceremony with two Native American's performing music while two performers dance, are my work. It is a very popular, very creative show whose success is due to the dedication of Mark and his staff and to the many creative, talented people in our community.
