The pilot programme, which targeted three or four routes, is in its last few days. Following that, there will likely be some number crunching while the folks at the Regional District offices determine if its viable.
To be truthful, we didn't find we made very effective use of the programme. We'd have a single tiny bag to put inside our green bin every week - I'm sure we could have easily piggybacked off a neighbour's bin. The main reason is that we compost pretty much all of our food and kitchen waste - there's not a whole lot of stuff that could go into the organic curbside bin that couldn't just be composted.
We'll have to see if curbside pickup does get picked up! Ladysmith, a community of about 7000 some people, is the first community in BC to actually offer this service.
