For more details go to adrian.kenyon.free.fr This is a collage I made on the subject of overfishing. Hundreds of photos cut out with scissors and glued onto card. No messing with computers! All photos I found in national geographic magazines! I'm offering the free use of this image to ecological groups...

COLLAGE ON BOARD

This collage speaks volumes about our collective lack of respect for our environment.

Most of us turn a blind eye and let the fishing industry carry on raping what’s left of the planets’ oceanic resources rather than challenge their moral right to exterminate hundreds of endangered species: Why? I think it’s because the world’s population is being hypnotised night and day by our political/business leaders who have turned the majority of us into “sheep”…

Quite a lot of the fishermen in this collage are actually walking on the fish filled waters, in a parody of a well-known miracle performed by Jesus…

I have had to slightly modify around 35 business logos for the up-and -coming posters of this collage in an attempt to provoke some sort of reaction from the fishing industry, but at the same time escape severe punishment for copyright infringement! Even these modifications may not be enough to prevent legal action as they could insist that I do not have a satirical right to imply their company in this realistic manner! However, I hope one day this image will be used as part of an awareness campaign in association with Seashepard: a militant ecological group founded by Captain Paul Watson, formerly of Greenpeace.

There is still hope in the fish laden sky or “heaven” but if we don’t wake up it will be too late, as in 50 years from now the oceans will be beyond repair… Fish have been swimming in the oceans for the last 400,000,000 years…If this doesn’t wake people up then I’m afraid that our business mad (but morally deaf, dumb and blind) political leaders have won already…
