Feathered Dinosaurs! Paleontologists have discovered new dinosaur fossils in northeastern China. The find contains five different species, all with evidence of feathers.

The theory birds evolved from dinosaurs has always been troubled by the absence of feathers more ancient than those on the famous archaeopteryx.
So, basically, the dinos-from-birds theory was held back because the oldest bird was older than the oldest feathered dinosaur.

... until now. The five new species are between one million and 18 million years older than the ancient bird.  Archaeopteryx is no longer the paleontological patriarch of plumage.
