Actually...This is where I found the picture... This is the actual article below.
This is for those that haven't seen the 16 baby pandas. SICHUAN , China -- One zoo in southwest China has its hands full with 16 baby pandas. The Sic hu an Wolong Panda Protection and Breed Center is dealing with the results of a breeding boom -- 16 pandas have been born since July, 2006. The brood includes five sets of twins. The cubs are weighed and measured every five days (see pics) The heaviest tips the scale at just over 24 pounds, while the lightest weighs about 11 pounds. Once weaned, the panda cubs will attend panda kindergarten. In the meantime, more little ones are expected at the center since 38 giant pandas were artificially impregnated. < /SPAN> ï¿?lt;/SPAN>
All I know is that it is a photo of Tai Shan in Washington. The National Zoo can verify it. Even the background in the photo is that of the Panda house display walls where they do their examinations (as they were back in 2005) .

Holly and loves_taishan are correct, Katie -- the photo is of Tai Shan at the National Zoo. That particular photo ran in newspapers around the world on the day he was named at 100 days old. I have the original clipping, and the National Zoo has the original photo on their website.
This article is two years old and refers to the 16 babies born in 2006 -- Tai Shan was born a year earlier in 2005 and NO babies have been born at Wolong this year since the earthquake.
But Katie! Thanks for posting it anyway... anything that brings attention to the pandas and their endangered status can't hurt.

The panda in this photo was not born in China, it was born in the USA at the National Zoo. The panda in this photo is Tai Shan. It was taken during his 7th exam on September 30, 2005 by a National Zoo photographer. See: http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GiantPandas/MeetPandas/PandaCubGallery/13.cfm
I love Tai Shan (does it show?)
