The Citizens Campaign is partnering with Sustainable Jersey in order to create opportunities for citizens to improve the quality of life in their own hometowns and to assist in improving New Jersey's environment.

The Citizens Campaign will host three regional workshops, provide ongoing mentoring and coaching, work with designated local Green Teams, recruit people to join Green Teams and other local Environmental boards and commissions, and assist citizens in the presentation of Sustainable Jersey model ordinances to their hometown governing bodies and school boards.

The Citizens Campaign Law and Policy Task Force will draft model laws for potential inclusion in Sustainable Jersey approved action steps.

The three fall regional workshops will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at the Alexander Library Lecture Hall at Rutgers-New Brunswick; Friday, October 21 at Bergen County Community College’s, Lyndhurst Campu; and a third workshop to be scheduled in October in South Jersey.   All the workshops will be at 6:00 pm and feature state and local environmental and political experts.  The workshops are open to current Sustainable Jersey participants as well as the public.

Harry Pozycki, Chair of The Citizens Campaign said, “We are excited to be working together with Sustainable Jersey to provide opportunities for citizens to take leadership roles in improving and sustaining their communities’ quality of life.”

Donna Drewes, Co-Director of Sustainable Jersey, said, “We are pleased to be able to draw on the grassroots and political expertise of The Citizens Campaign in order to expand our capacity to foster effective Green Teams in cities and towns throughout New Jersey.”

Sustainable Jersey is a certification program for municipalities that want to go green, save money and take steps to sustain quality of life over the long-term. It is endorsed by the New Jersey League of Municipalities.

The Citizens Campaign gives people the tools and training to get results on the issues they care about.
