I took this shot, admittedly not a great one, of this peregrine as he flew over our kayaks looking for lunch. Every time he would fly low, the avocets and greater yellowlegs would scatter. Soon after I took this shot, he put it in fifth gear and caught up to the back of the escaping birds and grabbed a straggler. I couldn't tell for sure what kind of bird he got, but it was likely either an avocet or a greater yellowlegs. Wasn't able to get my camera around quick enough to capture the capture!

I was kayaking on the estuary at Morro Bay CA when this peregrine falcon started making hunting runs over the flocks of shorebirds, mostly American Avocets and Yellowlegs. This was the only decent shot I was able to get of him, and while my camera was in my lap and I was turning my kayak, he flew right into the back of a pack of escaping avocets and grabbed a straggler, taking him to the ground for a meal.
