This little bird is actually wild and free, and is obviously used to being around people, and diving after little morsels of food.
I think it is a common sparrow, a widely distributed little bird, though introduced into Australia.
Sparrows are common sights in the big urban cities of Australia.
I am not certain it is a variant of sparrow, as it has a yellowish bill, and descriptions of old World sparrows do not have such coloured bills.
However, it is otherwise the perfect size and form of a sparrow.
If anyone can ID this bird, I would be grateful.
