Pictures from Fairbanks,Alaska
I received pictures this morning from family in Fairbanks Alaska. There are only a few but they are beautiful. Some taken off the back porch at sunrise. Some with Moose tracks through out the back yard. I've also added some from my trip in September. The high today is 1degree the low for tonight is to be -14 that's really cold. It doesn't get very cold here in Virginia Beach. 29 at night and the high 30's in the day is about the coldest we have and that's really bad weather.
I can almost promise you Sheri one of my relatives is wearing flip flops and shorts still. She doesn't put on her jeans and boots until February or March. I think the temp has to be around -30 for her to get COLD. When I visited her in September she was wearing her shorts and flops when I got off the plane. I had on a down coat and gloves, it was 20 degrees that night. I just cracked up but everybody there was like that. We went out to eat before going back to house and no one was dressed for the winter like we dress here in Virginia Beach,VA.
In the winter is when the northern lights are really easy to see and we saw some really beautiful sites for a few nights. Some nights it was hard because it was still light at 10:00pm. Not a daylight but a twilight, it was so cool, literally. The tree's, mountains and all the planes. The planes are how people travel due to the vast amount of terrain. If you go off road in Fairbanks your out of town in the wilderness.
Moose hunting season started my first day in Fairbanks. So when I went looking for Moose because I've never in my life seen one, they were no where to be found. Finally after days of searching I hit gold. Way back off the road this moose and his family didn't get the message it was hunting season. There was this little creek, you could see clean through to the bottom of the water. Nice and clean water, across the creek there were four moose. Two big ones and two babies moose. I was stoked they were huge.
Beautiful critters, a rack on his head OMG tremendous. I did a piece before on Alaska not being Earth friendly and they aren't. To see the parts of nature that hasn't been touched by man is a awesome feeling inside and it is beautiful. If you've never had the chance to witness the beauty and openess of Alaska it's a trip thats a must at least once in a lifetime.
