If any Now Public Readers live in Langley, it would be interesting to know your experiences, though 2.1 is pretty small, it is a slow News Day around here!

LANGLEY, B.C. — A small earthquake shook the Vancouver suburb of Langley Saturday night.

According to the Natural Resources Canada's Earthquakes Canada section, the 2.1-magnitude earthquake struck at 9:23 p.m. local time. The quake hit approximately 4 km NNW of Langley, it said.

Sgt. Tom James, watch commander of the Langley RCMP, said it received a number of reports from residents in the Walnut Grove area, near 210 Street and 92 Avenue.

Hey, I live near Walnut Grove/Port Kells area; it woke me up.  There are large semis that drive along this road, sometimes using air brakes or rattling loudly, so that sometimes shakes the house, but this was bigger.  I wasn't up for the initial crash, but in my bleariness I thought I was dreaming - I slept on the floor in the basement that night, and after the big bang woke me and I stirred, there was minor shaking for a few seconds afterwards, more rapid vibrating than I've been in before--not the rolling motion I'm used to.  I felt the big 6.8 quake a few years ago and was near the epicentre, so this was nothing to write home about, but it was a trip to hear from someone at work that a quake actually happened near my area, since I thought it was obviously a dream or I'd imagined it in my sleepiness.  Scary; glad noone was hurt and it wasn't a big deal.  Again, my 'scoop' is that there was still some vibrating/shaking that lasted approximately 15-20 seconds or so after the bang, though since I was on the floor I might've felt more than most people would have.

Just to clarify, when I say I was in the 6.8, that wasn't centred here in Walnut Grove, but near Olympia, WA where I was working at the time.
