Pollution small Island Tenerife Spain
The pollution problem of the Island Tenerife is a delicate one.
Near the posh Hotel Maritim in Puerto de la Cruz Spain is a plant which is supposed to convert sewage into something more clean before it runs off into the Atlantic close by.
When passing by the hotel you often notice a foul smell which has been objected to by some of its private residents as well.
Pointing fingers at this problem is easy but, I rather stay off this topic in my homepage on holiday home in Tenerife as well as Tenerife.
Why not write about it?
You have to be careful as a 'guest resident' in a vulnerable community where tourism is its main income. Pointing fingers is not welcome.
Certainly, no costs have been spared to make the sewage conversion plant a success against Tenerife pollution, especially, as this was, most probably, partly or more funded by the European Union.
However, one must never forget that the biggest of all Canary Islands Tenerife is volcanic which, surely, complicates technical installations of the sort, very much.
I might be mistaken not having real technical insight into the matter.
What I would like to emphasize, nevertheless, is don't blame and criticize if you don't know enough about a problem.
The photo shows the waterfall beach section of Playa Jardin where tourists sometimes complain of dirty run off into the ocean which should be preserved as clean environment at all costs for its rich fauna and flora under water. Humankind needs clean oceans and islands to survive.
