3.7-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Quebec

Quebec was hit with a 3.7-magnitude earthquake. The epicenter of the Quebec earthquake was in Lachute, near Mirabel, close to the border with Ontario.

The earthquake was originally reported as measuring 4.3, but the USGS notes it as 3.7. The quake was reportedly felt in Ottowa.

The area is prone to minor earthquakes, and feels several per year.

There have been no reports so far of any damage.

Last summer, a 5.0-magnitude quake rattled Ontario, Quebec, and parts of the northeastern United States, sending some residents running into the streets. That quake's epicentre was about 56 kilometres northeast of Ottawa.
