Rare Tornado touches down in Hawaii

The tornado did touch down briefly in Kapolei in Hawaii near the golf course, and while there was minor damage, and several sightings, none of the reports were extensive.

The fire department in Hawaii are checking on reports that a rare tornado has touched down in the area.
Local media reports say a rare tornado touched down in the Kapolei area of Hawaii about 1 hour ago; no word on injuries or damage.
120 people are currently without power and there are reports of some damage.

my friend grew up in hawaii, went to the same school as Obama. I will have to ask him about tornadoes.

I was born and raised in Hawaii. We rarely ever get tornadoes. And I mean rarely. In the 20 years I've lived there, I think I've only heard of 1 land tornado and a few tornadoes on water.

I had a premonition of the tornado..i didnt understand it but when i heard about it happening in hawaii. i freaked.

wow! i live on the Big Island (Kona Side)...and lucky us never have um here! all we get is rain, sun, and vog....
