Rescue workers recover bodies of 11 landslide victims in Jayapura

Jayapura (ANTARA News) - The bodies of all 11 dead victims of a
landlide in Jayapura General Hospital`s resettlement, Bahayangkara
village, Jayapura Municipality, Papua, have been recovered thanks to
cooperation between the military, police and local people.

The 11 bodies were successfully lifted after rescuers worked hard since
6 am on Tuesday to remove debris of buildings in the landslide area.

Using an excavator, the rescue workers succeeded in lifting the body of
Filo Awom, the last victim known to be buried, at 5 pm local time.

"At 12:00, a victim, Mrs Femi, had to undergo surgery at the nearest
hospital to remove a blood clot from her breast. Her condition is now
relatively stable," Dr Tirtaysa said.(*) END
