Rescuers still searching for missing victims of landslide in C. Java

Brebes, Central Java (ANTARA News) - A joint search and rescue (SAR) team consisting of local residents and security personnel, here on Wednesday was still looking for seven persons missing in a landslide which hit Dukuh Marenge, Sindangwangi village, Brebes District, Central Java Province on Tuesday (Feb. 5).
The missing victims were Herdi (34), Soerah (30), Kurni (6), Triyamah (50), Ruwat (33), Tarsumi (50), and Didi (4), a spokesman of the Brebes district administration, Mayang Sri Herbimo, said here on Wednesday.
Twelve survivors of the disaster had been evacuated to the village`s disaster mitigation post, Herbimo said.
The rescue efforts were hampered by a lack of necessary equipment and the disaster`s location which was difficult to reach.
The landslide, which had been triggered by incessant downpours over the last few days, killed seven residents and destroyed two bridges in the village. (*) END
