According to shell-fish pickers, clams disappeared from the mouth of the Zuari river in Goa after the December 2006 tsunami only to return in great numbers in 2008. Now there are clams a plenty and when the tide is at its lowest during full moon, there are plenty of pickers, buckets and containers handy. The clams are tasty too, cooked in the lovely orange Goan curry, cooked in coconut milk, dancing in the sweet, spicy and sour mix of local spices.
