"Why is it that only China and India can get funds from the CDM, while island countries like Indonesia which are prone to climate change can not," Emil Salim said here on Monday.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of conference which opened here Monday.
Attended by thousands of delegates from over 180 countries, the UNFCCC conference was opened here Monday morning and will last until December 14 to discuss climate change mitigation efforts and to draw up a road map to replace the Kyoto Protocol which will expire in 20012.
Emil said that as an island country Indonesia would be the first to feel the impact of global warming and of the rise of the sea level. Therefore, an easy procedure to gain CDM funds concerned the national interest.
