Robin Williams is Bike Mad but he isn't the only one

Comedian Robin Williams admits to an addiction. One where there is no known cure other than him being barred from cycle shops and skips.

As a bike collector myself, I can understand his 'terrible' addiction. I have many sorts and my oldest dates back from World War II  (I can almost hear the sounds of the sirens and Vera Lynn).

It's not just about the bike, it is about the 'history' that goes with it.  I know someone who has fifty and I thought that was a lot.  He goes to cyclejumbles and stock up at these places.

I myself often get a desperate call from time to time, from people who 'know I like bikes' with 'I have a 1930's and it's going cheap'. Each bike has its own charm and character. Bike collectors stick together and these addictions just grow and grow to some grosteque jumble of metal in the garden shed, conversatory or bedroom. 

Some bike collectors enjoy collecting British bikes and then it snowballs to European bikes and chunky American 'Fifties' bikes. 

Bikes are beautiful things it is just that no one understands why anyone would want more than one bike.   Bike Addicts think that's a very silly question.
