Looking north... Sandringham House in Norfolk is the winter retreat of the British royal family. Completed in 1870, it's something of an architectural jumble and is the personal property of the Queen, not the government. The house, gardens and extensive grounds are open to the public for most of the year. The Queen's father, George VI and her grandfather, George V, died here.
