School Bus in UK Running On Plant Oil Lowering Emission Levels by 80%
There's a charter bus company in the UK that are running numerous buses on rape seed oil. The buses still have to heat up the plant oil with a small portion of diesel but save 80% on emission levels! The remaining by-product of the rape seed is turned into animal food. The one problem they are having is the high duties on bio-fuel . That will be addressed by the Government soon as stated in the following video.

These buses are chartered as a school buses, I can see bio-fuel stretching out around the world since the emission levels will have to come down even further in the future. At present all diesel engines must meet certain standards, they are presently computer controlled for fuel usage. This has drastically cut down the power allowed in modern trucks and buses.

Though Bio Diesel is something everyone wants, most do not understand the environmental impact Low Euric acids such as Rapeseed, Canola and other vegetable oils can have if a spill occurred from transporting it, either by rail or ocean transport. Believe it or not Bio Diesel is far more dangerous in streams, oceans and rivers, not to mention plant life than virtually any petroleum product on the marketplace today, granted it may be good for your salad, the air and greenhouse gases, but until we can devise a way to farm air , raising fish, birds and crops on greenhouse gases or in mid air. Bio Diesel fuel aint all it's cracked up to be, even Environmentalists such as Dr. Suzuki would agree with my assessment. Electricity such as Vancouver buses is a far better solution, and electric motors or Hydrogen. Sorry to be a fly in the ointment. There is no easy solution. Good story though.
