I do not feel that these beautiful creatures should be kept in captivity.  They belong in the wild and not used as some silly puppett to entertain the public.  My heart goes out the the trainers family, but I dont hate the whale for what has happened and I can only hope that they realize that they only belong in the wild and discontinue the shows at ALL amusement park!!!

yeah.... animals are not for public entertainment otherwise they should be taken cared.

Than why don't you set your dog free? I do agree that Orcas should be stolen out of the wild anymore and put in captivity but many are now born in captivity and they couldn't be released into the wild. Other than Orcas and Dolphins I have no problem with caged animals. Anyways most caged animals these days are also born in captivity so they are on a whole different level than wild animals. Plus many are usually pampered better than you and me.

that is sooo true! they should be out in the wild were they belong! u can't just take someone or something out of therer home! it's wrong! nd also just it's name KILLER whale would give a hint that it kinda kills!

tilly has killed three people and still seaworld want to keep him, only because the money killer whale entertainment attracts. he should be released into the wild so he cannot hurt anyone else

Cindy123 - release into the wild would be a slow and cruel death sentence for tilly. The trainer would not have wished this on the animal. The whole thing was an unfortunate and sad accident.

I thinking keeping these animals in those tiny tanks is ridiculous. They have sanctuaries for them like the one they built for keiko the whale, (from free willy). Why dont they just put him in one of those it was 5 times the size of the tanks if not bigger and they could help him learn how to survive on his own like they were doing for keiko. It is a tragedy what happened to the trainer but being that she worked with killer whales she probably knew the risks she was taking and unfortunately she paid the ultimate price for what she loved. But think about it, she loved these animals do you really think she would want Tilikum to be put to death. i dont think so.

I can say that extinction of these species are actually caused by human activities. We people are sometimes ask for freedom but do we really know about freedom? Have we ever free someone? Those animals belong to their habitat. Not in the cage, a glass or in a small aquarium.

if they do release shamu he would'nt live because  he was to spoiled by seaworld to not know how to hunt it's food how would the poor whale die?\

Oh you're such a pathetic person, Tilikum hasn't killed anyone, do you even realize it was actually Nootka and another female orca that killed the first person Tilikum was just present for it, and that Daniel Duke died of hypotherma ORCA NOT AT FAULT! was stated very clearly in the report there was NO BITE MARKS! or anything! the only reason Tilikum is even getting blamed by the media from that is because the guy was found on Tilikums back, Sorry but if you're going to kill someone you don't then let them ride on your back, so they can breath and not die! You utter idiot. Dawn was an accident but the medical report that she had trauma to body and was hinted on her head, which would have been where it more likely hit her head when she fell into his tank, Tilikum did not grab any part of her and pull her into the tank report clearly states that she fell in and its funny the moment the report came out all those people that were on the news that said he grabbed her and stuff suddenly changed their story to "Yeah i saw her slip in, it was horrible." As an Orca he hasn't got hands and being most likely knocked out from he head injury she would have drowned fast way to the top would be to bring her to the surface with his mouth! She needed medical care i believe Tilikum knew that and trashed her about to get peoples attention, which accidently killed her in the process, I believe he had good intentions, just a tragic outcome, but obviously you are stupid enough to just believe the media without actually even knowing anything about it, and believe its gives you the right to come on places like this and brand Tilikum a murderer that hungers for humans! And actually you realize out of all the Orcas seaworld own hes the most docile one? But no obviously not. You sir are an idiot! not the person you were branding an idiot. Oh just so you know, releasing Tilikum would be a crule and slow painful and lonely death for Tilikum as it would be exactly the same outcome as Keiko never joined a pod, and died because his system couldn't cope being back in the wild.

Agree Tilly was not at fault and people are taking this to seriously.  He would not live in the wild.  Would you rather he be the main attraction at Seaworld or die slowly.  Your choice

I could not believe it! I worked on the stadium in 2004 and everything seemed to be OK with Shamu :(

Tilly would not live in the wild long he has a bent dorsal fin and a pod would not accept him.

You all are so naive.  Humans get away with less.

Dawn would not be dead if Tilikum had been put under with the first killing. The man would not have acquired hyperthermia if he was not injured and helpless in the cold.

ya shut up you bunch of tree huggers it was an accident...... if you havent noticed most of the animals that are in captivity look happy and think about it... you cant release animals who have been bred in captivity because they wont know how to defend themselves and or die cuz they cant catch their food! death happens just have to learn from the mistakes!

0
catlin oliver

you people are stupid if you think you can just release him into the wild! im only 15 and i know better than that!

you people are dumb... ok here is a question, take a baby orca for example if one of you tree huggers were to take it and release it into the wild, but it was born in captivity... wat do you think is going to happen, it doesnt know how to fight, to hunt for food, where to migrate during seasonal changes. yes i believe that it is wrong to take animals from the wild IF they are already living there, but for animals who are bred in captivity that is their lifestyle, where they feel safe, and loved. you put them in the wild they are just gonna be scared and lost and end of dying! i swear you stupid tree huggers need to get it through your heads no one wants to listen to you guys so shut up because nothin is ever going to change..... im only 15 and if i can come to this realization then im sure some how you guys can get it through your brainless heads!!!!!!
