Seismometer at Mt Anak Krakatau resumes functioning

The seismometer of the Mt Anak Krakatau (GAK) in the Sunda Strait, Lampung province, has resumed functioning on Sunday at 2.02 p.m West Indonesia Time, because of clear weather after heavy rains for several days in the area.
Head of the Mt Anak Krakatau monitoring team in Pasauran village, Cinangka subdistrict, Serang regency, Anton Tripambudi disclosed that the seismometer has started recording eruptions and quakes of the volcano.
Monitoring officials from 2.34 p.m to 6 p.m recorded 12 eruptions and volcanic quakes, 24 shallow volcanic shocks, seven eruptions, five tremors and 16 spewings.
So far Mt Anak Krakatau is still assuming the status of level-3 alertness as declared by the Geological Disaster Migitation Center in Bandung, West Java.
