SEPTA Sleepover: Bus Passengers Stranded Overnight
SEPTA Passengers Stuck Overnight in Philadelphia Snowstorm
SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) has confirmed that passengers were stranded overnight on buses caught in the snowstorm that pounded the East Coast.
Around 150 SEPTA buses were stuck in over a foot of snow, and passengers were faced with the choice of making their way home on foot, or staying in the buses overnight.
If you use SEPTA regional rail, trolleys or buses, check the schedule to make sure your line is running: cancellations and delays should be expected.
Fox 29 also received reports from Facebook friends that relatives were stuck and had to walk home after three hours.
Our Dave Schratwieser confirms that one bus was stuck at 71st and Broad Street, and nine people chose to stay on the bus.
SEPTA kept personnel with that bus and made sure it was running so the passengers had heat.
Redfern said city bus service was suspended at 11 p.m. and that SEPTA rescue crews have been working all night to dig those buses out. “Due to the road conditions they're still getting to some of those buses,” she said.
