Serra do Mar

Serra do Mar (Mountains of the Sea), is a 1500km range of mountains following the Atlantic shore of south eastern Brasil. Its highest point (Pico das Salinas ) is over 2300 meters high.

The Mata Atlantica (Atlantic Rainforest) covers most of the range which includes several national parks.

Several large cities, including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Vitoria, and Curitiba are located in or near the mountains.
