Update: This is the "shaft" or "oral arms" of a cannonball jellyfish (Stomolophus meleagris). When they die, usually the oral arms and the bell (umbrella) detach from each other, giving the impression of a "comb" jellie.

I went to the beach with my daughter while she and her friend were surf-fishing! I found what I thought were 2 kinds of jellyfish washed up on the beach. I'll post the other tomorrow. The '2nd kind' of jellyfish is the 'bell' of the Cannonball Jellyfish.

These were so pretty with the sun shining on them. I love how the sparkles came out, and I don't have any special lens to make the stars ~ it's the lens that came with the camera.

Best viewed large for detail and stars.
