Lively Mayport history is about to be bulldozed for cruise ships:
There is evidence that humans lived and exploited the marshes in and around the St. Johns river inlet 10,000 years ago, so all Europeans are latecomers. Mayport has been simply a place where the sea and sky informed human life for centuries, and now the Jacksonville Port Authority wants to obliterate that with its ill-advised plans for berthing cruise ships.
