But for those who need a great in-city car for short errands and commutes, today’s ForTwo might be just the ticket. Environmentalists are hoping Smart will release the higher-mileage diesel version of the ForTwo, which has been available in Europe for several years, in the US soon.

158, I like this story. It's good stuff.  So then we will have a larger gridlock of smart cars, except more of them. Smart Idea?  We have many here looking at electric cars, yet few have ever put a EMF scan around these cars.  I was hired to take some Milligaus readings and it was surprising, as the highest EMF field centers outside the cars, place the highest EMF fields around the "Nibbly Bits" (groin) to knee areas, depending where the batteries are placed. Though it is DC and not  AC current,  until studies of the effects on humans is thoroughly studied, I'll  stick to fossil fuels for now.  Oh yeah, shielding the battery compartment to protect you or inside the car ain't working and who knows what it will do to your Wedding Tackle (see Nibbly Bits) if you want kids in the future. Boy, how is that for an "inconvienent truth", guess the Al Gores of the World forget to  tell us that FACT!

Thanks for a good comment.  The one fact is that fossil fuels will run out within a generation.  We must find some replacement. I have not studied deeply on electric cars but I agree we need to check out their effects before a mass move to them.

Though this could help stem population growth.
