Location: Wolong Panda Reserve, Wolong, Sichuan province
The staff at the preserve makes these sort of cake things that they feed the pandas in addition to the mountains of bamboo that they eat everyday. The cakes have apples and carrots and bamboo (and some other stuff that I can't remember) in them. The pandas REALLY like them. I think they smell kind of gross.

This was taken in June 2007 at the WoLong Panda Center. From what I've read the staff will be feeding the pandas these 'snack bars' until the source/transport of the bamboo is reliable again. They are good for them and the pandas LOVE them, but are not the ideal diet that more bamboo is for the pandas.
