Snow in All 50 States: Record Dallas Snowfall, Snow in Florida
A winter storm moving through the South could means that there will be snow on the ground in all 50 states, which has likely never happened before. Snow in Florida clinched it, according to the Patrick Marsh of the National Severe Storms Laboratory. Meanwhile, Dallas snowfall has reached a single-day record yesterday, with 12.5 inches falling within 24 hours at DFW Airport.
For there to be snow on the ground in all 50 states, the current storm in the South would have to dump onto the Florida Panhandle, which just happened. University of West Florida cancelled classes due to snow.
However, no snow in Vancouver for the start of the 2010 Olympics. It rained last night, though.
Marsh says he's trying to collect photos of snow on the ground from all 50 states.
He says he's unsure if such a weather phenomenon has ever occurred before.

It is an unusual winter the world over. Record low in some areas and records high in others.
Here in Japan we have above average temperatures for the whole season now.
From what I read Vancouver lack snow for the winter Olympics.

And yet some people still deny climate change
at 12:51 on March 9th, 2010
Climate Change is a scam. First it was "GLOBAL WARMING" omg omg omg end of the world stuff. Now that Obama was in copenhagen germany, it snowed up to his ass in powder. NOW everyone calls it climate change. The whole climate change/global warming bandwagon is like a ride at Six Flags. Every couple of years they change the name. you green peace hippies need to realize that climate change is not what is killing the earth, its Giant Industry thats polluting the world. Sure America has EPA regulations on our industry, thats why gas refineries are at a stand still. Obama wont let America open more gas refineries to lower the price of gasoline.Thats great and all, but China, Russia, India, and Africa dont have EPA regulations to stop pollution, the rest of the world is laughing at us because we are handcuffed when it comes to industrial progress, while Iran is making Nuclear weapons and China is buying up all the natural resources. you say that global warming is true? Ask yourself why everyone thought global warming was true, then ask yourself why its no longer called global warming. this has been the longest recorded winter in history. Get a life you hippuies.

I just read this to my 5th grade class, and we were wondering if there was snow in Hawaii? We thought maybe there was snow on top of one of the mountains in Hawaii, that was the only place we thought it might happen. Does anyone know for sure if this is the case. Please email me back at AGingery@hotmail.com. THANKS

Yes, there's snow in Hawaii, on some of the mountaintops.

The statement about snow being present in all 50 states is incorrect. There is currently no snow on the summits in Hawaii, and there has not been any accumulating snow since mid-December. Robert BallardScience & Operations OfficerNational Weather Service Honolulu

I can affirm this. I live in Hawaii and I'm currently watching the 10 o'clock news (khon2.com). The meteorologist said there is no snow on the mountain peaks of the Big Island.

Such a weather phenomenon (snow on ground in all 50 states) HAS occurred before - January 19th 1977, the day of the famous Miami snowfall. Those of us who remember weather in the 70s will recall news media's headlines and angst over "Global Cooling".

Alberta has normal weather have had snow since early December and will have it for at least another month. Luckily the almost 50 below we had before Christmas didn't repeat themselves. We have a balmy minus 16 c or 3.6 F here today , whoo hooo.

You fail to mention the tropical weather you had yesterday, cowboy.....what was it....50 F up there? Oh, i hear things.

P.S. You wouldn't normally expect snow in Vancouver this time of year either. Isn't this the time of the annual flower count in Victoria?

Good report. Snow in the far south is unusual.
