Snow emergency levels are currently being issued across the US as many cities and counties are suffering under the recernt snowstorms. The impact the weather is having on the US has lead to the phrases "Snowmageddon" and "Snowpocalypse" being coined. The most recent snowstorms are in effect this week, set to last all day Wednesday, and through Thursday. Ohio, in particular, has been hit hard by the recent snowstorms. A level 2 snow emergency level has been issued in Ohio meaning that roads are considered extremely hazardous.

Springfield, Ohio is reporting a level 2 snow emergency level with.4-8 inches of snow expected in the next few days. The Ohio Transportation Department reports that there are 15 trucks out clearing roads, and that there is over 12 inches of snow on the ground.

A Level 1 snow emergency level is issued when roads are considered hazardous and should be avoided. Level 2 snow emergency levels are issued when roads are considered to be extremely hazardous and must be avoided. Level 3 snow emergency levels mean that the roads are closed to everyone except emergency personnel. Snow level warnings can be found on local weather websites. Snow emergency levels are often issued in smaller ciies or counties as they are less easily equipped to deal with heavy snowfall.
