Further disruption is expected today as snowdrifts remain an issue, however many London buses will be back on the roads and while most of the tube network went down yesterday, it shold be mostly back up and running today.

The Highways Agency is still advising against any travel on the country's icy roads unless absolutely necessary, while suburban services into London remain seriously affected by the snow.

A severe weather warning from the Met Office remains in place for England, Wales and much of Scotland as the snow moves north, leaving severe disruption in its wake.

At least 3,000 schools are expected to close or remain closed for another day, while for air travellers the situation remains bleak.

London City Airport is closed, and delays are still occuring at Heathrow, Stansted, and Gatwick.
It was estimated that the economy lost more than one billion pounds yesterday, as a result of about a fifth of Britain's work force being unable to get in to work.

When it comes to the rare oaccasion of snow, Londoner's know how to improvise. People were sliding down the hills on air beds, surf boards, ironing boards, blow-up dingys, for sale signs, to let signs, road signs, lino carpet, snow boards, skis, homemade ice skates, bum boards, baths, basins, buckets, trays, plastic bags, suitcases and sledges.

This was taken in my local park in Kennington. Another sculpture had appeared yesterday. I wonder what will be there tomorrow?!

Ricmond green was a blanket of white with kids and adults all playing and laughing, it bought the best out of everyone that day.

London had it's biggest snowfall in 18 years yesterday and had to slow right down to accommodate the weather. There were very few cars on the roads and it was a delight to stroll through the snow on my (late) way to work.
You don't see many of these old phoneboxs around nowadays.

"After the worst snowfall in nearly 20 years, we are receiving reports of children disappearing up to their waists in parks and gardens. Parents are advised to leave their children in place to await rescue, and to go home and enjoy warming drinks in the meantime."
