Solar Energy Breakthrough Could Cut Costs By More Than 50%
|"A US-based company has successfully tested a revolutionary solar panel, that is expected to cut the costs of photovoltaic solar power generation by more than 50 per cent, and herald a new era of improved efficiency and lower production costs of solar energy globally.
The patented SCPs have already been chosen for a $200 million-plus solar energy generation plant project in New Mexico City. The company hopes that the second phase of the project, scheduled to go ‘live’ in December 2009, will have great implications for the Gulf region and Middle East energy requirements."

This would be a great and much welcome news, yet it is not revolutionary. The Middle East did already invest massively into Solar power as well as Hydrogen plants. Same for North Africa and China.
Good Post, Thank you.

The best thing to do now is still to put a solar electric panel on your roof. There are good tax rebates. Check out

for tips before you pay an installer too much.

I actually linked to the source from the first paragraph.
I also tried to use blockquote but it wasn't visible after it was saved. Not sure why... So I left it as it is...

Interesting development, lowering cost by decreasing weight and support requirements. Add it to the list with solar thermal and the new geothermal, which Google has invested in. US solar panel co's have asked for several (5?) more years of Fed assistance with the aim of lowering costs by 50%, I wonder how this might play in to that.
