The earth is currently witnessing the largest solar storm since 2005. The 2012 solar storm began on Sunday, January 22, showering the earth with solar particles.

The 2012 solar storm is not expected to pose any threats to humans. There is a downside, however, as the solar storm could cause communications interference.

The solar storm is also producing some incredible images. The solar flare originated from sunspot 1402, a region of the sun that has grown more active as of late.
