It was end of May (Memorial Day Weekend), we were driving through the Sierra Nevada. At the foothills and the Yosemite Valley floor it seemed like a nice clear day. However when we tried to cross the high passes, we encountered a pretty freak snowstorm at the Sonora Pass. The road was closed for a while and opened to let some of the cars pass through. We were one of those cars and then the road was closed for the day. Tioga pass remained closed. This pictures show the amount of snow dumped by this freak storm at the end of May in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
