A Southern California Brush Fire Has Burned Over 800 Acres Near Corona

Firefighters are battling a blaze in Southern California near Corona that has burned over 800 acres so far and could spread even further. The fire was started by mowing equipment in Riverside County according to UPI, and although it has damaged no homes at this time, some residents have been evacuated and others are on alert for possible evacuations.

The fire is about half contained at this time, but the fire could burn about 1,000 acres before it is under control.

A red flag warning has been issues by the National Weather Service meaning that the dry conditions and winds could create a further fire hazard.

Helicopters are also working in the area along with 10 ground crews.

No homes had been damaged and no injuries were reported.

The National Weather Service has issued a warning for potential wildfires in the Las Vegas Area according to the Sun. As the temperature is warm with some wind and dry conditions, it is the perfect combination to start a new wildfire and residents need to be on alert. The warning is in effect until midnight on May 22 in the Mojave Desert, the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the northwest deserts of Arizona.
