Station Fire in Los Angeles Update: LA Fire Map

The Station Fire in Los Angeles, in the Angeles National Forest is still growing and is estimated to be 121,762 acres in size, and only 5% of the fire is currently contained.

Very humid conditions have helped to slow the progress of the Station fire, that has already destroyed about 53 homes since it began about seven days ago. 12,000 homes are still in danger, including many in the Tujunga area, but firefighters are hoping the higher humidity will help.
Two firefighters were killed yesterday in a crash when they slid off a mountain road. Fire Captain Tedmund Hall, 47, and firefighter Specialist Arnaldo "Arnie" Quinones, 35 are being mourned by fellow firefighters in Los Angeles.

There is however, a possible thunderstorm threat from a hurricane in the Baja California peninsula that will bring lots of strong winds with it if it passes into this area.
Many residents are continuing to evacuate, and many are spending the nights in evacuation shelters such as one at the Verdugo Hills High School. The animals are also being evacuated from Little Tujunga Canyon as the fire gets closer.
The Mount Wilson fire is currently holding, and the radio and television towers are still standing at the moment.
"The area of Mt. Wilson is holding," said Capt. Scott Visyak of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. "The fire hasn't made it up the hill. We have a lot of resources up there. We're trying to protect the infrastructure with retardant, lines, land clearing. It's defensible space."
6,300 homes in Mount Wilson have been evacuated so far.
However, the areas of Acton and Agua Dulce are still a worry for firefighters as they are right along the fire front and are currently very close to the flames.

Damages for the fires are estimated at $13.6 million.
The Angeles Crest Highway is still closed to public traffic at this time.
The animals are some of the largest casualities in these fires, as many remains could be seen along the fire lines and firefighters recall seeing many fleeing animals running for their lives.
Temperatures are expected to range from the mid-90s to 100 in the lower elevations of the mountains, but a cooling trend is expected as the week goes on.

Here at the base of Tujunga/La Cañada the fire had worked it's way down to some house. The Los Angeles Sheriff Dept & Los Angeles Police Dept. were blocking access to street heading up to the fire. Near by local residents stood by looking as the fire would race from brush to trees.

My prayers go out to the Families of the two Firefighters who died when their Vehicle went over the side of a cliff on top of Mount Wilson. My prayers are also go out to all of the Firefighters, from the Los Angeles County Fire Dept. The Los Angeles City Fire Dept. The U.S Forest Service, The California Dept. of Forestry and all other Fire Depts. as well. They are doing a tremendous job. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. The Los Angeles Police Dept. The Glendale, Calif. Police Dept. they are doing a tremendous job as well. All Firefighters no matter what Dept. they are with, no matter what State they are in; They put their lives in Danger everyday fighting fires whether its going inside a burning Building or fighting a fire on top of a Mountain in Calif. They are the ones who are on the front lines of a fire. So pray for them that the Lord will keep them safe, so they can go home to their Families.
