Finally a respite from the scorching summer heat.  But then again, this storm has come months early.

I woke up this morning and was surprised to see the time on my alarm clock.  I almost got late going to work.  The heavy rainclouds and moderate downpour made it look as if it was still early dawn.  And then I had to cut short a very summer-ly dream--I was at the beach with an icebox full of ice cold San Mig Light.

The active low pressure area northeast of northern Mindanao has intensified into a tropical depression, and is threatening the Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration said.

At 4 a.m. Monday, "Ambo," which packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour, was located 60 kilometers east of Tagbilaran City or 120 kilometers east of Dumaguete City, the state weather bureau said in its early morning bulletin.

The country will experience “slightly cooler” temperatures in the next days due to a low- pressure area (LPA) off Mindanao, a state meteorologist said yesterday.

In a telephone interview, weather forecaster Nonoy About, of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), said the LPA will likely bring rains over the Visayas, Mindanao and the Bicol Region in the next 24 hours.

An LPA is commonly associated with bad weather. A tropical cyclone, if on the sea, can be formed in such condition.

Take care mate.

At least your weather dept. gives you time to take precautionary meaures. As I said in my article the weather pattern is changing.

We have to brace ourselves to expect the unexpected.

Thanks menon69...although there is nothing to worry about on this one.  I read your article on that freak storm that hit Kuwait.  How big is the media attention to it now?
