STRATFORD, 'Olympic City'
I couldn't believe it when I saw about eight hanging baskets within Stratford Station. It is a nice idea, though a bit odd. Let's hope they don't get stolen though.
As I am unable to upload Youtube videos on Now Public (surely there must be a way), I have put it under moniker 'Beaulieuonnp' on Youtube.

Stratford was one of the stations I used when I was at North East London Poly in the late 70's which is now called East London University. It was a rough area then and I had to be more careful when going home late. But things can change for the better, let's hope this will be one of them!

I don't think things have changed that much, the flower baskets just 'look like they are doing something'.

Just up the road in Leytonstone, they have already started to nick the flowers.

Stratford does need a clean up, if not a visible one, thats for sure. Remember my housing estate just across the border in Leytonstone got regenerated several times during my youth. Paint and flower beds that lasted five minutes. It is a bit better round there now though.

You can tell it is a rough area when they start putting hanging baskets in odd places:) The flowers may give residents a false sense of security.
You can tell when Stratford gets really dangerous; they start painting buildings pink and put on classical ballet music.
