How did you fare, Paschen?

Japan is well set up for disasters and it is not common that people are in serious danger.

Just do not try to put up Dry Wall on a ceiling just before an Earthquake. :)

We do have a rather good warning system here as well, with Laud speakers all over the country that give us the latest updates.

Katori our next door Town has now a fire, I am not sure though if it has any relation to the Earthquake.

Thank you for this Passion.  I suppose you wouldn't want to stand on a ladder either.  Let us know if you hear more about the fire in Katori.

the earthquake covered most of mainland Japan, Japan said it had a mag of 6.9 America claims 7.1. It was on the Tokaido fault line. The Big Tokaido earthquake is about 10 years overdue. I think this was the one which happened in Tokyo in 1923.

Reports of an earthquake in Hawaii too.

Thought they said it was 3 or so and centered in Chiba?

Im in western Tokyo and it was quite feelable, no damage except half of the plants in my aquarium that I put in yesterday seemed to detach.  :|

It still appears that there has been no major damage from the quake:

The quake rocked buildings in the Japanese capital, but no damage was reported. Some local trains experienced slight delays.

There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The quake swayed houses and rattled furniture in the city at 7:56 p.m. No damage was immediately reported by national television networks.

The seismologists in Japan predict more strong earthquakes in the future:

Seismologists in Japan, which experiences around 20 percent of the world's most powerful earthquakes, believe disastrously strong quakes will strike off its Pacific coastline in the near future.
