Strong quake hits Bengkulu

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 rocked the Indonesian province of Bengkulu on Friday, causing panic to residents.
The epicenter of the quake which struck at 02.29 p.m. was in the sea about 75 km southwest of Muko Muko district in Bengkulu at a depth of 10 km, spokesman of the local meteorology and geophysics station Sujud SP said.
Friday`s quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, he said.
The 30-second temblor caused the glass windows of houses and offices to tremble.
