Strong quake jolts Bengkulu
A tectonic earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale rattled Bengkulu province in the early morning of Tuesday but there was no immediate report on casualties and damages, local Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) spokesman Adjat Sudrajat said after the temblor.

He said the epicenter of the quake was located 3.99 degrees southern latitude and 100.56 degrees eastern longitude at the depth of 10 kilometers, or 168 kilometers southwest of Muko-Muko district.

A string of aftershocks hit Bengkulu province in the southern coast of Sumatra island after a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9 rocked the area on September 12, 2007, leaving at least 25 people dead and tens of others injured.
