Suisider blew himself up in a jirga killing 30 and injuring more than 50 in Orakzai Agency

GHALLANAI: At least 30 people were killed and 50 others sustained serious injuries on Friday in a suicide attack in Khadezai area of Orakzai Agency some when hundreds of the tribesmen from Ali Zai tribe had gathered for a jirga. The injured were being rushed to nearby hospital and emergency was declared at hospitals in Kohat and Hangu after the explosion.

Sources told that the attacker blew up a vehicle laden with explosives in the center of the jirga that had been convened to form a tribal Lashkar for ensuring a clampdown on Taliban activities.
Orakzai Agency is being considered the most peaceful of the seven agencies of Fata. The formation of Tribal Lashkars has been instrumental in ousting the Taliban from different agencies. Such practices has been exercised in Bajaur, North Waziristan and South Waziristan in which Lashkars have torched houses of the militant Taliban But several of the Chieftains were later killed. It is the deadliest ever attack in tribal territory.
