A 5.0 Magnitude Earthquake Has Struck Taiwan at 1:33am Local Time
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake struck Wednesday morning at 1:33 am local time and there have been no reports of damages or injuries at this time. The earthquake struck when most people would have been in bed and this will minimize any injuries that may occur.
The earthquake struck at a depth of 6.2 km and was located about 105 km south of Taipei.
It was only 15 km from the town of Hua-lien.
No tsunami warnings have been issued.
