Taylor Bridge Wildfire Consumes 27,000 Acres

The Taylor Bridge wildfire has destroyed over 60 homes, burning 27,000 acres and counting. The Taylor Bridge fire was started by a construction crew working on the Taylor Bridge, and was fueled by dry conditions and winds. The wildfire grew from 2,800 acres to over 20,000 acres in just a few hours.

The Taylor Bridge fire is burning between Cle Elum and Thorp, bordered by Highway 97 and Interstate 90. Evacuations have been ordered in the following areas:

  • Bettas Valley
  • Swauk Valley
  • Teanaway
  •  West of SR97 to Swauk
  • SunEast, Upper Reecer Creek,
  • Green Canyon
  • Areas northeast of Ellensburg

An emergency shelter is at the Cle Elum Centennial Senior Center, 719 East Third Street, Cle Elum (See map below). An emergency animal shelter for farm animals has been set up at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds.

A state of emergency has been declared in Kittitas and Yakima counties.

I wish I could help, I'd offer to take in some small critters, for displaced residents, but we are all the way in North Bend, I don't have a car & don't have any money. But if possible, we could keep some caged critters temporarily, we would need their supplies to come with them, as I said, I have no money to help that way~ But we have a loving home where  small caged animals would be well cared for, until people figure out their living situation. We have rabbits, Guinea pigs & cats. Have experience with many small caged critters though~ Prayers out to you all~
