Palo Pinto County Fire Consumes 3,000 Acres Near Possum Kingdom Lake

Update: The Possum Kingdom fire has burned through 7,500 acres so far, and has destroyed 25 homes. 125 additional homes have been evacuated.

A grass fire burning in Palo Pinto County, Texas, has consumed over 4,000 acres so far. The blaze has caused the evacuation of several communities near Possum Kingdom Lake. OVer 50 homes are directly threatened by the fire, which is being attacked by land and air by ten different fire departments.

Possum Kingdom was hit by wildfires in April of this year:

Calvin said that every community on the southeast side of the lake along Texas 16 from U.S. 180 to Farm Road 2353 has been evacuated. That includes Gaines Bend, Fortune Bend, Garland Bend, The Cliffs and Sportsman's World.
