A brush fire has broken out near Thousand Oaks south of U.S. 101 near California 23 and Rancho Road. About four acres have burned. The Thousand Oaks fire is said to be burning in an open four-acre space. No homes are believed to be in jeopardy.

The fire in Thousand Oaks is reportedly burning south of the 101 at Rancho Road and north of Potrero Road. Winds of up to 20 mph are working the firefighters, although the relatively cool temperatures could help their cause.

The Ventura County Fire Department has sent in helicopters and an air tanker to drop water on the fire. It is believe that 60 percent of the Thousand Oaks fire is contained.

No evacuations have been ordered as of yet.

This is a very frightening area to have burn. In any direction there are houses and horse ranches. Thankfully they were able to control it quickly.
