Structural damages have been reported in Symterton near Old Chicago Road, though there have been no reports of injuries there, according to the National Weather Service.
Unspecified damages have also been reported in Dwight.
The system remains active and is currently moving through southern Cook County.Pat Berry, a spokesman with the Will County Sheriff's Department, said a tornado touched down near Wilmington and stayed on the ground for about 12 miles until it reached Green Garden Township near Monee, about 40 miles southwest of Chicago.
Several homes have been severely damaged, and numerous trees and electrical wires are down, Berry said.
"Fortunately that's mostly a rural area out there," Berry said, adding there have been reports of only minor injuries.
A tornado warning remains in effect until 7:15 p.m. for central and eastern Will and southeastern Cook Counties, according to the National Weather Service. They say it is moving northeast at 26 mph.

The system itself produced a tornado for over a stretch of 100 miles. While the tornado was not on the ground that entire time, it was on and off on a path stretching from Livingston county, Illinois, into northwest Indiana. No fatalities were reported with this storm, and the worst of the damage was reported in southern parts of Frankfort, Illinois. Interstate 57 northbound is still closed due to this storm (2 days later) from damage to power lines and downed power lines near the highway.
