[Banani, Dhaka, Bangladesh]
The longest total solar eclipse of the century from Dhaka!

The Sun's shadow swept halfway across the world, from India, over China and out into the Pacific Ocean. The eclipse was first sighted at dawn in eastern India near the town of Guahati before moving north and east to Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and China.

It was the longest total solar eclipse in our lifetimes, unsurpassed in duration until June 13, 2132 but Bangladesh will have to wait for another 105 years to see another full solar eclipse, on June 2, 2114.

The full eclipse took place between 7:55am and 8:00am and the viewing range of the eclipse was between 83 to 100% throughout the country. It was clearly visible north of Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat and at Panchagarh and Thakurgaon. The highest duration of the full eclipse was 2-3 minutes in those places. Partial eclipse (93%) was viewed in capital Dhaka and other places.
